PROJECT SPOTLIGHT
McGill University
Opportunity
When McGill University's existing wood casework was no longer able to withstand the conditions of daily scientific work, Canadian Scientific stepped in with a durable, long-term solution: Custom Phenolic Casework. Working directly with McGill University, our team designed, supplied, and installed custom phenolic casework to fit the space accurately, support everyday laboratory use, and deliver the durability expected in a busy academic environment. We planned every element around the room itself, from the dimensions of the work surfaces to the supporting components that would complete each laboratory station.

Response
Canadian Scientific Supplied and installed 11 custom phenolic workbenches each designed to accommodate up to 14 students equipped with service fixtures for gas and electrical.
McGill University's new phenolic casework provides the durability their laboratory requires while giving work areas a clean and consistent appearance. Most importantly, it addresses the performance limitations of their previous wood casework, with a solution better suited to the laboratory’s working conditions.
Awarded in 2025 and completed in 2026, this project marks another successful collaboration between Canadian Scientific and McGill University. Our team is always ready to assess the challenges of existing laboratories and deliver custom furniture solutions.
